NEW FOR 2026!

Over the Clover: The Diaries of Hamilton W. Ploss, Adrienne’s second book, is scheduled to debut mid-summer 2026. Watch our Web site for details on pre-orders. This book focuses on the diaries of Hamilton Ploss: 1859-1862, 1894, 1904, and a business ledger. Over the Clover includes transcriptions of the diaries and weaves in biographical sketches of local neighbors, farm hands, businesses, and family from Magnolia, Stedman, Chautauqua, Stow, and Panama, giving a glimpse into farm life from the 1800s. It also explores how Hamilton and Anna Strunk Ploss worked with L. B. Warner and John T. Wilson in floating logs from Magnolia on Chautauqua Lake to Jamestown or sending logs to Thorpe Brothers’ sawmill of Stedman or Wellman’s sawmill of Blockville to be milled into lumber. The book also gives a glimpse into ice harvesting at Magnolia and storing ice in Hamilton and Anna’s ice house. Over the Clover chronicles the blacksmiths and general stores of Stedman and Stow. If you enjoy local history, then you’ll love how this book keeps local history alive.

Adrienne’s first book, Go Back. You Forgot the Flowers. is still available. It explores the early history of Hickory Hurst Farm, along with farm antics from CSA newsletters. It is available locally at the Chautauqua Bookstore, Handcrafted from the Heart (Mayville, NY) and Good Neighbor Bookstore (Lakewood, NY). You can also order it from Amazon.
